9. Hand-Painted Wine Glass Favors

9
Hand-painted wine glasses are a two-in-one project: they serve as both decor and a favor guests can take home. Set a few out during the shower, and after toasts and laughs, guests leave with a small memento.

Materials

  • Plain wine glasses (one per guest, plus a few extras)
  • Glass paint or enamel paint pens
  • Rubbing alcohol and cotton pads
  • Painter’s tape (optional)
  • Small organza bags or kraft boxes for packaging

Instructions

Clean each glass with rubbing alcohol to remove fingerprints and oils; this helps paint adhere better. Let dry completely. Use glass paint pens to add designs like small flowers, hearts, dots, or the guest’s initials. Painter’s tape can help create clean lines if you want to add a stripe or geometric shape.

Let the paint dry for at least 24 hours, then cure the glasses by placing them in a cool oven, heating to 350°F, and baking for 30 minutes. This sets the paint so it won’t wash off in the dishwasher (though hand-washing is still gentler).

Time and difficulty: 2 to 3 hours including drying time, beginner-friendly.

Customization: Paint a small motif on one side and a guest’s initial on the other for a personal touch. You can also write the shower date on the base for a sweet keepsake detail.

Helpful tip: Set painted glasses on a tray with soft fabric or doilies during the shower. It protects the paint and makes the display feel more curated.
