8. DIY Noise Makers and Party Favors

No New Year’s celebration is complete without a little noise at midnight, and DIY noise makers double as charming party favors for guests to take home. Start with small paper cones, cellophane bags, or mini treat boxes decorated in metallic papers and ribbons. Fill them with homemade confetti, small candies, or rolled-up wish cards where guests can write their resolutions.
For the noise itself, pair the favor with a small kazoo, a noise blower, or a mini popper. Decorate plain plastic blowers with metallic washi tape, glitter, or small ribbons tied around the mouthpieces. Set them in a basket near the entrance so guests can grab one as they arrive, or place one at each table setting as a designated midnight noisemaker.
If you prefer a quieter alternative, create a “wishing bell” by attaching small jingle bells to a length of twine, ribbon, or pipe cleaner bent into a star shape. Guests can ring them at midnight for a softer, more whimsical sound that’s still celebratory.
