5. Hanging Basket Light Fixtures

5
This idea takes the typical hanging basket and turns it into a small illuminated globe. By lining a wire hanging basket with string lights and adding a few decorative elements, you create a piece of functional art that can hang from a hook, beam, or tree branch.

Materials include one or more wire hanging baskets (coco-lined or metal), outdoor string lights, greenery such as faux ivy or eucalyptus, and a strong hanging chain or rope. You may also want small battery-operated puck lights for added brightness.

Line the inside of the basket with a generous amount of string lights, weaving them in and out of the wire grid so they peek through from every angle. Tuck sprigs of faux greenery into the coco lining or weave them through the wires to soften the look. If you want a fuller appearance, layer two strands of lights so the basket glows even on the dimmest settings.

Each basket takes about twenty minutes to assemble, and the project scales easily depending on how many you want to hang. Hang them at varying heights for a more dynamic, organic feel, or keep them uniform for a tidy, modern look. Grouping three baskets together at different heights above a dining table creates a stunning centerpiece effect.

This is also a wonderful way to repurpose older hanging baskets that have seen better days. As long as the frame is intact, a few coats of spray paint and a fresh set of lights can give them new life.
