3. Copper Pipe Countertop Wine Rack

3
Copper pipe wine racks have been popping up in design magazines for years, and for good reason. They look expensive, but they cost a fraction of what you’d pay in a home decor store, and they take about an hour to assemble. The warm copper tone adds instant glow to a kitchen, especially one with white, navy, or sage green cabinetry.

Buy a few lengths of half-inch copper pipe, four elbow joints, and two end caps. You’ll need about ten feet of pipe total for a six-bottle rack. Cut the pipe to size using a pipe cutter (this is essential, hacksaws leave rough edges), then dry-fit everything before gluing. Use a strong two-part epoxy on the joints, not regular household glue, which won’t hold copper to copper reliably.

You can leave the copper shiny, allow it to patina naturally for a vintage feel, or seal it with clear lacquer to keep the bright finish. The geometric design becomes a piece of functional sculpture on your counter or open shelf.

One small caution: copper can scratch counters if you slide it around, so add felt pads to the bottom. Also, if you live in a humid climate, the patina can develop uneven streaks. A clear coat solves this entirely.
