9. The PVC Pipe Treat Dispenser

9
For a virtually indestructible toy that will challenge your dog’s problem-solving skills, look no further than a simple piece of PVC pipe. This project is perfect for high-energy working breeds who need a durable toy that can withstand rough outdoor play and constant manipulation.

Purchase a short length of schedule 40 PVC pipe from your local hardware store, along with two matching end caps. Ensure the pipe is thoroughly cleaned and sanded to remove any rough edges. Use a power drill to make several small holes along the length of the pipe, making sure the holes are slightly larger than the size of the kibble or treats you plan to use. Smooth down the drilled holes to remove any sharp plastic burrs. Place some dry treats inside the pipe and secure the end caps firmly on both ends. As your dog rolls, nudges, and slides the PVC tube across the floor, treats will randomly pop out of the holes, providing a highly rewarding and long-lasting mental challenge.
