4. The No-Sew Fleece Ball Tugger

Fleece is an excellent material for homemade pet toys because it is soft on a dog’s gums, highly pliable, and does not fray when cut. If you have any leftover fleece blankets, old sweatshirts, or fabric scraps from previous crafting projects, you can quickly transform them into an interactive tossing and tugging toy without ever needing to pick up a needle and thread.
Cut your fleece fabric into several long strips, approximately two to three inches wide. Gather the strips together and tie them around a core object, such as a tennis ball or a tightly rolled ball of scrap fleece, wrapping the strips around the center to form a soft, spherical head. Use one of the fleece strips to tie a tight knot at the base of the ball, securing it firmly. Take the remaining loose ends of the fleece strips hanging from the ball and braid them together into a thick, sturdy tail, tying a knot at the very end. This design gives you a soft, lightweight ball that is safe to throw indoors, combined with a convenient handle that allows you to play a gentle game of tug-of-war with your pup.
