4. Graduation Cap Cupcake Stand

The dessert table is always a central gathering point at any party, making it the perfect location for a themed focal point. A DIY graduation cap cupcake stand is a clever, thematic way to display sweet treats while reinforcing the graduation motif. To build this tiered stand, you will need three sturdy cardboard boxes of graduating sizes (large, medium, and small) and three square pieces of thick mat board or foam core that are slightly larger than their corresponding boxes. Wrap both the boxes and the flat boards in high-quality wrapping paper, fabric, or self-adhesive vinyl in the graduate’s school colors.

Assemble the stand by hot-gluing the largest box down as the base, centering and gluing its corresponding square board on top of it to resemble a mortarboard hat. Repeat this process with the medium and small layers to create a stable, tiered tower. To complete the look, craft a decorative tassel out of embroidery floss or yarn and drape it from the top square board. Arrange cupcakes, macarons, or cookies on each tier, creating an eye-catching, delicious display that perfectly fits the theme of the day.
